Trial By Fire

GO TO THE BEGINNING OF THE BLOG

The building got set back slightly because of a Township requirement to have fire resistant materials along one external wall, roof sheathing, and trim.  This is the first time I ever heard of having drywall on the outside of a building.

The carpenters said that they will be getting that done fairly quickly.

Oddly, this side is farther from neighboring buildings than the opposite side, but the code requiring the fireproofing must be based on distance to the lot line because if it was distance to another structure, this would not make any sense.

Who says that one-size-fits-all codes make sense?
