It's A Gas

GO TO THE BEGINNING OF THE BLOG

Nothing is ever as simple as it first seems....

As the cool fall weather encroaches, we've run into a snag.  Consumers Energy, our natural gas supplier, is a reluctant provider of service.  We contacted them around the 24th of September that we wanted a new gas meter hooked up for service to the cottage... and got a service notification number from them.  Two weeks later, we called back to find out when they were coming out to hook it up.

Well... the service notification apparently means that they were notified we wanted a meter hooked up, but they still needed an application and $200 deposit... something the first service rep failed to mention.  And... it would be 6-8 weeks before they were going to send someone out to actually do any work.

Can you imagine?  There must be at least three other places being built in the county and they can't install a meter for almost two months.  That puts us at Thanksgiving before there will be any heat to dry the plaster, paint the walls, tile the bathrooms, lay the flooring, etc. etc.

Thanks, Consumers Energy.
